MARTIAL ARTS TRAINING AT FORT FREDERICK
The Fort Martial Arts Training Program, with 20+ classes per week, is a curriculum that blends traditional and contemporary martial arts, with a focus on personal self defense. SOLDIERFIT Martial Arts is an accredited program in association with Evolve Academy of Martial Arts and Master Mike Moses. As a student, you’ll gain self confidence, leadership development, and valuable life skills, in addition to learning how to resolve conflicts through non-violent resolution. Our program will provide you with a safe, friendly and fun environment to develop a comprehensive skill set to protect yourself.
The SOLDIERFIT Martial Arts program is divided into two disciplines; Personal Defense System and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. In addition we offer a children’s martial art program for kids between 5 and 12 years of age.
(PDS) Personal Defense System
PDS is a system of personal defense with a strong emphasis on Muay Thai Kickboxing. Muay Thai has separated itself from other striking arts due to its practicality and overwhelming success in mixed martial arts competition. It involve punches, kicks, knees, and elbows. In our program you will learn the basics of the Muay Thai, in a safe and gradual manner. In addition to striking, students will learn practical self defense techniques and how to apply these to real life situations. Students can pursue contact sparring after reaching the level of green belt, but will never be required to spar while learning the art.
(BJJ) Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, known as “the gentle art,” is a ground-based martial art that includes leverage and physics rather than strikes to manipulate an opponent. BJJ is designed to help you defend yourself when during an altercation you are thrown or fall to the ground. It is the perfect complement to our PDS program which focuses heavily on stand up technique. Our BJJ program is divided into Gi and No-Gi. No-Gi consist of wearing shorts and a rash guard or t-shirt. Gi is the traditional martial arts uniform. Because the wearing of a Gi alters many of the techniques, we offer both styles to prepare you for each scenario.
Martial Arts for Children
Our Children’s program is designed to give students confidence and leadership skills to face life’s challenges. We emphasize character development to foster a positive attitude to help resolve and avoid conflicts before they start. We give children an opportunity to learn effective self defense while having fun and staying fit. Our program incorporates stand-up martial arts and grappling into a singular comprehensive program. Students will safely practice skills that will help them diffuse, prevent and handle threatening situations. We offer two levels of martial arts for children.
- Little Ninjas – ages 6-9
- Young Adults – ages 10-12
